Komen Impact Awards
Komen Impact Awards
The Komen Impact Awards were held at Cipriani’s in the heart of New York City. The award show highlighted the lifesaving impact that Komen funded programs have on breast cancer patients in the New York City area.
The video focused on the story of Jessica Winkler who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the shocking age of 28 and was the centerpiece of the Impact Awards. She was a nursing student at the time and didn’t have health insurance.
Through the help of a Komen funded program, Peconic Bay Medical Center, Jessica was able to get insurance days before her lifesaving double mastectomy.
Today Jessica is paying it forward as a nurse and helping women recover physically and emotionally, thanks to the funds raised by Komen. The video was recognized by the Summit Awards.
